Grocery Distribution/AFAC
Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC) delivers groceries weekly to four of APAH’s Arlington rental communities, allowing for easier access to groceries for those residents who are unable to get to AFAC’s distribution center. The volunteer team assists with setting up the distribution area, tabling the groceries as they are delivered by AFAC, hosting the distribution, and breaking down and cleaning up after distribution ends. This work calls for excellent customer-service skills, patience, and comfort working with a diverse population. Teams for these APAH-AFAC distributions are pretty set but in times that a volunteer is no longer able to assist on a long-term basis, positions open up for new volunteers.
The holiday and winter season is our busiest time of the year. It’s a great time to fill an open volunteer vacancy. Help is especially needed on December 13, 14, and 15, when our distribution sites will provide chickens to the residents on those days, and we will need more volunteers to assist on the days. Able to help?
