APAH’s New Board Members – 2024

At APAH’s Q4 2023 Board of Directors meeting, two leaders were unanimously appointed to the Board. Currently, APAH’s Board of Directors is comprised of 23 professionals representing diverse industries and residents from APAH communities. APAH welcomes:

Kyle DeThomas, Associate and Attorney, Ballard Spahr

Kyle’s practice focuses primarily on development and disposition of mixed-use, multifamily, and condominium properties in DC, Maryland and Virginia. He specializes in helping buyers and sellers navigate DC’s Tenant Opportunity to Purchase Act (TOPA) and Maryland’s right of first refusal (ROFR) laws and is also well-versed in real estate finance, land use and zoning, commercial leasing, title and survey matters. Kyle was previously a Co-Chair of the Diverse Lawyers Group and is currently the Firm Lead for Project Destined. Kyle is also an active member of ULI Washington and a nonprofit board member.

Prior to practicing, Kyle served as a Captain in the U.S. Air Force and civil engineer on deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan and was chief of development and planning for $1 billion in real estate assets and infrastructure, including housing for all Department of Defense personnel stationed in Okinawa, Japan. During law school, as a clerk for the Building and License Enforcement Division, he drafted complaints, court orders and coordinated efforts among landlords, community and civic organizations, and City agencies to reclaim and revitalize Chicago neighborhoods most affected by the subprime mortgage crisis.

 

Matt Ginivan, Senior Vice President of Development at JBG SMITH

Matt Ginivan is Senior Vice President of Development at JBG SMITH where he is responsible for a diverse portfolio of planned and active mixed-use developments concentrated in Arlington, Virginia.  He recently led the successful entitlement, design, and completion of Met Park: a 2.1 million square foot mixed-use development that is home to Amazon’s HQ2.  He has overseen the entitlement of over 8 million square feet and previously led the successful development of Rosslyn Central Place, a 1 million square foot trophy office and residential mixed-use development.  Prior to joining JBG, he was a member of the real estate investment banking group at FBR Capital Markets.  Mr. Ginivan graduated cum laude from Princeton University where he was captain of the rugby team.
