APAH Receives Leadership Arlington Nonprofit Award

Arlington, VA (May 28, 2015) – The Arlington Partnership for Affordable Housing’s (APAH) was named the Nonprofit Award Winner at the Leadership Arlington 2015 Leadership Legacy Awards on May 20, 2015 at The Westin Arlington Gateway.

“APAH is deeply honored to receive the Leadership Arlington 2015 Nonprofit Leadership Legacy Award,” said Nina Janopaul, President/CEO of APAH and Leadership Arlington Signature Program Class of 2003 member. “This distinction recognizes APAH’s leadership not only in real estate development, but also in improving the lives of our residents and supporting our community.”

The Leadership Arlington Leadership Legacy Awards brought together more than 200 community leaders to celebrate award winners and the graduating Leadership Arlington Signature Program Class of 2015. Award recipients were selected for their demonstration of leadership in our community and support of Leadership Arlington’s mission “to enlighten, inspire and connect” leaders in our community. Additional 2015 winners include Bean, Kinney & Korman, P.C., Ethics Award, and the Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC), Community Impact Award.

APAH is a nonprofit that develops, preserves, owns, and advocates quality rental housing that is affordable to low and moderate-income families and promotes opportunity for residents through partnerships and programs. APAH works exclusively in Arlington County. Founded in 1989, APAH now helps more than 1200 households live in stable, secure and affordable rental homes. In 2014 APAH was named Developer of the Year by the Housing Association of Nonprofit Developers (HAND). APAH’s Arlington Mill Residences has been awarded Best Housing Development in Virginia at the Virginia Governor’s Housing Conference; EarthCraft Virginia’s MultiFamily New Construction Project of the Year and Urban Land Institute – Washington’s Excellence in Housing Development Award. APAH received the Prize for Innovation and Impact from the Arlington Community Foundation in 2011; in 2009 APAH received the HAND Innovation Award and in 2008 was named Best Nonprofit by the Arlington Chamber of Commerce.
